A 23-year-old man was killed by his teenaged neighbour over a trivial issue of cutting banana leaves at a park in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony on Thursday. The accused has been arrested, police said.
The incident took place when Govind Mehto was standing in front of his house in Geeta Colony Block 9.
Around 3 pm, 19-year-old Sujeet Kumar came there and started cutting leaves of a banana tree.
“Govind objected and had a heated argument with Sujeet. In a fit of rage, Sujeet took out a knife and slit Govind’s neck. Sujeet then fled from the spot,” said Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
Govind was rushed to Max Hospital in Patpatganj, where he succumbed to is injuries. Based on the information, a police team apprehended Sujeet.
“Sujeet was arrested on Friday and the weapon of offence was recovered,” Kumar added.
Caught for stabbing
A 23-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing a youth over a monetary dispute in Geeta Colony last month.
Accused Sagar Puri had borrowed Rs 50,000 from Parmeet and was finding it difficult to return the money.
On October 31, a call was made to the PCR regarding stabbing in front of Bank of Baroda in Jheel.
Parmeet was admitted to Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan with stab injuries and was later referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
During investigation, Sagar was arrested. “He had borrowed Rs 50,000 from Parmeet and was not returning it despite several reminders,” said a police officer.
On October 31, Sagar went to meet Parmeet and attacked with an intention to kill him.
Parmeet’s condition remains to be serious.
