All major temples in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were closed for devotees   on Wednesday afternoon due to lunar eclipse.

The Srivari temple in Tirumala was shut down from 11am in view of the lunar eclipse. It will reopen for darshan at 9.30 pm. Tickets and tokens were not issued.

 The TTD has cancelled the monthly "pournami garuda seva" scheduled for Wednesday.

"After performing punyahavachanam, suddhi, the temple doors will reopen. The preparation of annaprasadam was also stalled following Grahanam," TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal said.

Similarly, the Annavaram, Simhachalam, Dwaraka Tirumala and Kanadurga Temple in Vijayawada were among the other temples which were closed and will reopen after 9.30 pm.

In Telangana, the Yadadri, Bhadradri and Mahankali temple in Warangal have been closed.

They will open after traditional ablutions to the presiding deity are completed and the temple is cleaned as per shastras.
