Bengaluru: The second day of the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS), on Wednesday, saw the Karnataka government launching 50 innovative products/solutions developed by start-ups, for diverse sectors.

They covered  IT/ITeS, agri-tech, med-tech, health care, clean-tech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), deep tech, among others. Most of these start-ups were incubated in facilities supported by the Karnataka government, which included K-tech Innovation Hubs, Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) anchored by associations like National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) and others.The incubators attend to and fund start-ups at different stages.

Winners of the Software Technology Parks of India awards were also announced on Wednesday. Among them was Larsen & Turbo Technology Services (LTTS) which was declared the best performer in the Mysuru region, notching a Rs 5,000-crore export of IT services. Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India was awarded the highest job creator in IT, though the number was not divulged. 

Altran Technologies India, Microland, and Standard Chartered Global Business Services were felicitated for high growth in exports - IT/ITES, while Schneider Electric IT Business was crowned the IT Pride of Karnataka in electronic hardware exports.

“Through its initiatives, STPI has created a nurturing environment for IT innovation, enabling India to rise as a global IT powerhouse. These efforts have ensured that India is not only a major player in technology but a global leader in software services,” said Karnataka’s industries minister MB Patil at the event.

Shan MS Namma Yatri pointed out that the government can help in getting access to financing. “Drivers need easier and faster access to loans and Reserve Bank of India’s initiatives like Unified Lending Interface (ULI) are a good step but they need to be implemented faster” he lobbied. Aravind Sanka co-founder of Bengaluru headquartered Rapido observed “I think one thing that will happen with EVs is vehicle ownership will further increase because it will become more affordable. Maybe over the next 10-15 years EVs will drive higher vehicle ownership.”
