Artificial Intelligence-powered technologies are making a deep business impact across the globe, and startups play a catalyst role in this. Artifacia, a Bengaluru-based startup that provides an AI-based visual discovery platform to fashion and lifestyle retailers, and brands, is really a classic example of this. It helps them improve product discovery, and hence conversions on their apps and websites.

“Artifacia is a visual discovery platform for retailers and brands. Our product is targeted towards fashion and lifestyle businesses looking to improve their customer experience. They can use our platform to build their own product discovery experiences,” says Artifacia co-founder and CEO, Navneet Sharma.

He points out that Artifacia’s major differentiator is its visual-first approach to solving product discovery problems for end-users. “Basically, what it means is that in case of categories like fashion what matters is the visual quality or the attributes of the image, like what makes the dress unique, whether it is the colour, style and shape, and so on. We combine the understanding of these product images with the users’ interests, demography and available product data with our AI technologies to be able to recommend the right kind of products to end-users,” he says.

Artifacia claims to have the easiest and fastest integration platform in the industry. “We are experimenting a lot and in our experience, some small and medium ecommerce companies can go live with us in just one day. For a large company, it won’t take more than a week. This we achieved with our focus on simplifying our product with better engineering and integration tools that we have built over the last few months,” says co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Vivek Gandhi.

Sharma says the company doesn’t want to do everything in a year or two. “We have an Amazon or Uber-like ambition to win the market with a long-term strategy. We are trying to figure out things one step at a time. The technology that we have built as the core of our product can be used in different verticals over time. The first use-case being in fashion ecommerce, followed by furniture, decor, and travel, among others,” he says.

“As for hiring, we are currently looking out for some senior folks for sales, product and engineering positions at Artifacia. We currently don’t have any plans for fund-raising,” he concludes.
