The sales figure in December 2009 was 252,004 units.
"The bigger and sportier brands like Pulsar and Discover covered 70 percent of sales," the company said in a regulatory filing.
A total of 95,388 units were exported at a rise of four percent, from 91,369 units in December 2009. While the motorcycle sales grew by 11 percent at 243,675 units (219,920 in 2009), there was a five percent rise in the sales of commercial vehicles -- 33,128 units compared to 31,575 units in December 2009.
According to the statement, Bajaj Auto reported 41 percent rise at 2.88 million units during April-December 2010 as against 2.04 units in the corresponding period last year.
