Hyderabad: Gautam Adani led Adani Group had donated Rs 100 crore to the Telangana government for the establishment of Young India Skills University for which Telangana chief minister, A Revanth Reddy had laid foundation recently.
On Friday, Gautam Adani along with his son Karan Adani, had met Reddy and handed over the cheque for Rs 100 crore on behalf of Adani Group's CSR arm Adani Foundation to the chief minister.
“A delegation from Adani Foundation, led by Chairperson of Adani Group, Gautam Adani met with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to handover a donation cheque of Rs 100 crore towards the establishment of Young India Skills University. Adani also promised continued support for the initiatives of Telangana state government for skills development, and empowerment of youth,” said Telangana CMO.
Telangana will get a world-class skills university under the PPP model, for which the foundation stone was laid on August 1.
The Young India Skills University (YISU), a not-for-profit that will come up on the PPP model at Meerkhanpet in Kandukur mandal of Ranga Reddy district, will offer degrees, diplomas, certificates, and custom-made courses tailored to the needs of the industry and community through a university school or multi-disciplinary courses from multiple schools.
Around 17 industry-focused schools and one centre for YISU have been identified, prioritising six schools for Phase 1 based on industry demand assessments starting in the upcoming academic year.
In the PPP model, the state government will identify a consortium of industry partners to collaborate. The government will provide recurring expenditures during the first three years of operations.
Noted industrialist and Chairman of Mahindra Group companies, Anand Mahindra, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Telangana Young India Skills University.
Srinivasa C Raju, another renowned industrialist and educationalist, will join the Board of Governors to serve as the Co-Chairman of the Young India Skills University.

Together, we are not just shaping the future of our youth - we are unlocking the boundless potential for a brighter, more prosperous India. Here's to creating a lasting legacy that will uplift generations to come,” Gautam Adani posted on social media after meeting Revanth Reddy.
However, after the Gautam Adani meeting, Revanth Reddy had come under attack from the opposition BRS.
“AICC tweets about Modani this morning Same day In Telangana What should we call this Jodi? Revanth + Adani = Revdani Ra Ga + Adani = RaGadani,” BRS working president K T Rama Rao posted on X.
