"Dabur's manufacturing facility in Egypt has resumed operations after a brief shutdown. We have already commenced production at the unit and operated one shift at the plant, starting yesterday," Dabur India Group Director P D Narang said in a statement.
In Egypt, the company has a manufacturing plant, which produces a range of hair oils, shampoos and hair creams. The plant is situated in the Ramadan City and caters to the needs of the local consumers.
"Production would be increased gradually to two-shifts in a few days," Narang said.
On Monday, India's other consumer goods firms Marico and Asian Paints had resumed manufacturing operations partially in Egypt, even as the political crisis in the African nation showed no sign of abating.
Last week, Marico, Dabur and Asian paints had shut down production in Egypt in the wake of the political unrest.
Egypt accounts around 15 per cent to Dabur's overseas business, which stood at around Rs 600 crore last fiscal while it contributes about 2.5 per cent to its overall turnover.
Shares of Dabur India closed the day at Rs 91.80 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange, down 1.13 per cent from the previous close.
Egypt is locked in a stalemate as demonstrators demanding immediate resignation of President Hosni Mubarak, who has been ruling the nation for three decades, are still continuing protests on the streets of Cairo.
