The International Aerospace Manufacturing Limited, a joint venture between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the British company, Rolls-Royce, was formally inaugurated here on Friday.
“The production facility incorporates the latest Rolls-Royce manufacturing techniques and will create job opportunities for highly skilled technicians and engineers in India,” HAL sources said and explained that the facility is expected to begin manufacturing production components later this year.
Stating that HAL and Rolls-Royce have been long-time strategic partners, R K Tyagi, the Chairman of HAL, explained that the joint venture, “Is a step towards indigenous production activities in the crucial aero-sector.
The state-of-the-art facility in Bangalore will produce components for the technologically advanced Trent family of civil aero engines, as well as for a number of marine and energy gas turbines.”
The joint venture included an investment of $25 million, and 7,200 sqm of land for the manufacturing facility. The unit will incorporate the latest Rolls-Royce manufacturing techniques to produce 130 different compressor parts, HAL sources added.
