Sources also said that with a view to make enough power available to people across the country, four such same mega plants for Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand have been accepted by the Centre. Similarly, the fifth plant to be set up at Sarguja district's Udaipur and Premnagr blocks has been proposed, they said.
The officials of Chhattisgarh Sarguja Power Ltd, associate company of the state Power Finance Corporation Ltd, said that 4,000 MW power availability has been proposed at Sarguja's Udaipur and Premnagar areas, out of which 2,000 MW energy will be distributed to the rest of the country. The state government has proposed to acquire around 25,000 acre land for the purpose which will include 1,200 acre for setting up of power plant, 200 acres for water collection and 100 acres for residential purposes.
For energy production, 1,120 million tonnes of coal and 135 million cubic metre of water will be needed, they said. The state's Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ramvichar Netam said that 30 residences in 11 villages will be displaced for the purpose.
