L&T Technology Services has come up with disruptive technology to quantify the carbon dioxide (CO2) content in air using camera thus paving the way for optimum use of building space and its better management.
“The technology uses a camera with multiple sensors and computes carbon dioxide density in the air using the algorithm,” said Keshab Panda, CEO and Managing Director, L&T Technology Services, in an interaction with DH.
The US patent authority states that according to embodiments of the invention, a system and method for identifying CO2 concentration in a building area using an imaging device is disclosed. The system captures the number of living beings present in a particular area of the building by the imaging device. This patent has received a positive patentability report from international search authority (ISA). It has not been approved yet.
L&T Technology Services has already filed 34 proprietary patents and 134 more patents have been filed jointly with its global customers.
The technology uses a camera with multiple sensors like occupancy sensor, multiple sensor and day sensors. “Five parameters are sensed through the camera. We count the people inside the room, action of the people, volume of the air, and exit air to calculate the carbon dioxide volume,” said Panda. “We believe in proving our concepts with intelligent software,” adds Panda.
He said that the firm has developed iBEMS, a platform for Intelligent Building Management Systems. “The platform receives data from sensors in the buildings. This information will go to the cloud and we have management modules that will analyse and transfer the same to a dashboard. It will help in the smart operation and solution delivery,” he said.
L&T Technology Services officials said that the patent will further strengthen the delivery of solutions by L&T Technology Services using the iBEMS. Intel is the company’s go-to-market partner for the platform iBEMS. Honeywell uses CO2 sensor to sense carbon dioxide in the air.
