The vehicle, costing Rs 1.46 lakh ex-showroom, is based on customer feedback and has a host of special features, which would ensure a smooth and comfortable ride for passengers and the driver, Hyder Ali Khan, Deputy General Manager Marketing (Three wheelers) of the comapny said.
With annual sales of about 2.6 lakh vehicles, the three wheeler three seater passenger segment is a huge potential market and is expected to grow more with infrastructure development and increasing transporting needs, he said.
Stating that the 3-wheeler-3-seater (passenger) industry grew by 14 per cent in 2009 over the last fiscal, Khan however said the petrol segment had registered a declined, the diesel segment grew by 30 per cent year on year.
Diesel sales now contribute around 62 per cent of total sales in this category, while petrol contributes 22 per cent and gas, both LPG and CNG, 16 per cent, Khan said.
The Alfa Passenger, post its' February 2008 launch has garnered a 20 per cent market share within in year,he claimed.
