As part of its 'Farm gate-to-Home gate' programme, the Federation would bring 'Nafed easy kit' containing kitchen basics to co-operative stores and other state-run retail outfits across the country at a price which will be 15-30 per cent lower than the open market rates, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) Managing Director C V Ananda Bose told PTI here.
"We can sell these items without any government subsidy by procuring directly from the production centres across the country using our infrastructure," Bose said.
The organisation had also worked out a national plan to strengthen its infrastructure for procurement and transportation of goods including foodgrain, pulses and edible oil, sugar and horticultural products, he said.
"We already got a good mechanism to control the market. Now we plan to strengthen it by consolidating our delivery system which will help consumers as well as farmers by creating a pan-India market for farm produce," he said.
Nafed would be signing an agreement with Kerala Co-operative department tomorrow to sell its items through Triveni outlets.
Other states where it is going to make a major presence is Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan and the north-east states, he said.
