The plant set up — through Tata Motor’s joint venture with Tata Africa Holding (Pty) Ltdinaugurated by South Africa Minister of Trade & Industry, Rob Davies. Tata International Managing Director Noel N Tata, Group CEO & Managing Director Carl-Peter Forster and Tata Africa Managing Director Raman Dhawan were present.
Established with an investment of R110 million, the plant can assemble, from semi knocked down (SKD) kits, light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles ranging from 4 tonnes to 50 tonnes, with an annualised capacity of 3,650 vehicles, which can be ramped up if required.
