New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a meeting with leading economists and key economic policymakers ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget for 2024-25.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Niti Aayog Vice-Chairperson Suman Bery and Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran attended the meeting held at NITI Aayog.
Sitharaman is scheduled to present the first budget of Modi 3.0 government on July 23. This will be Sitharaman’s seventh budget in a row, a new record for any finance minister.
The Union Budget 2024-25 will be the first major policy document of the Modi government after it assumed power for the third consecutive term in June. According to sources, the Prime Minister took suggestions from the economists for the budget.
Customary pre-budget consultation by the Finance Minister was concluded on July 5. Sitharaman held pre-budget consultation with 10 stakeholder groups between June 19 and July 5.
