Azim Premji University is organising a series of seminars on Philosophy of Education.
The focus of these seminars is on teacher education and related themes like the development of talent and the creation of knowledge which can facilitate systemic change in education.
The University invites abstracts not exceeding 400-500 words for papers on Philosophy of Education.
The University is committed to fostering philosophical discussions concerning education and creating a robust atmosphere to facilitate such exchanges. The Philosophy of Education Seminar Series is the University’s first step in this direction with the hope of collaborating and connecting with scholars in different universities both in India and abroad.
Four regional seminars will be held in Jaipur, Dehradun, Kolkata, and Pondicherry in the months of August-September 2012. An international seminar on the same lines will be held in Bangalore from January 16 to 18, 2013 where established scholars in the discipline from across the world will make presentations on current issues in PoE. It will be a means to connect the debates in Philosophy of Education world over to the Indian scenario and to bring a significant number of academics in India together.
The idea of these seminars is to reach out to as many people with an inclination and interest in this area and to create space for engaging with young scholars whose capabilities could be nurtured. To be able to encourage more young scholars, the university is also thinking in terms of a support process and academic help for the seminars. This is important also because there is a dearth of good research talent in the country and especially in PoE.

The abstracts/papers can be sent to poe.seminar@apu.edu.in on or before April 15, 2012 for the regional seminars and July 31, 2012 for the international seminar.
