Born and brought up in the US, the woman who herself is pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science said that she noted the majority of the students in her program were Indians although the university was not even very famous, which was quite surprising to her.

In her post she wrote, "I decided to use my employee benefit to get my masters in CS. I immediately realized that the students in the program were 99 per cent Indian. Which is obviously pretty rare in a US school to have that many non-American students.”

After having spoken with a lot of her Indian classmates, she could finally understand the reason behind Indian students coming to the US for a masters degree. She said that the only underlying reason here was the hope to get a job and US visa easily.

Further highlighting the common trend that a US degree would help in bagging better jobs, she asserted, “I have since gotten a job in Data Science—but mainly through a connection after months and months of searching. I kind of feel like it’s going to be really hard for all of these kids to get jobs in the US—it’s already hard for American kids.”

She latter asserted that this trend is kind of a scam which a Indian students a falling victim for.

The Reddit user said,” Anyway from my observations I think this is kind of a scam these Indian kids are falling victim to. They are coming here going into debt, the professors aren’t even good, and they probably won’t be able to get a job in the us. I feel bad for them honestly,"

Talking about cultural differences in the classroom as per her observations, she added, “The other thing is the Indian kids have brutal classroom etiquette like they are LOUDLY talking while the professor is, which would never ever be tolerated in a typical American classroom.”
