The Election Commission on Tuesday reacted strongly to the Congress' claims of delay in updating numbers on their results website.

The Congress had filed an official complaint with the polling body regarding delay in updating numbers on their website and as when votes are being counted.

In reply, the EC replied to a letter by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh that there is "Nothing on record to substantiate your ill-founded allegation of slowdown in updating of Haryana poll results: EC to Congress."

"Commission unequivocally rejects your attempt to surreptitiously give credence to irresponsible, unfounded and uncorroborated malafide narratives," the EC letter addressed to Ramesh also said.

Congress spokesperson and senior leader Jairam Ramesh had said in a post on social media platform X, "Like the Lok Sabha elections, in Haryana we are again witnessing slowing down of uploading up-to- date trends on the ECI website. Is the BJP trying to build pressure on administration by sharing outdated and misleading trends?"

He was not the only Congress leader upset over the alleged delay in updating numbers on the EC website. Supriya Shrinate said in an interview with news agency PTI, “I am confident that Congress government will be formed (in Haryana). The figures haven’t been updated on EC website for quite some time.”

Latest trends uploaded by the Election Commission showed that the BJP was ahead in 49 seats while the Congress in 35.

The majority mark for the 90-member assembly is 46.

Congress leader Kumari Selja told PTI, "We are all trying to see if it is moving, but it is simply not. It's really not progressing. Everyone is surprised as to why we are not seeing the latest trends. I am telling you... there is something going on. If all goes well, Congress will form the government (in Haryana)."
