Polling for the 90-member Haryana Assembly was held on October 5 and the results will be declared today (October 8). Counting across 90-seats of the state began at 8 am on Tuesday. After early trends showed a comfortable win for Congress in the state, BJP took a surprise lead and touched the majority mark. A total of 1,031 candidates, including 464 Independents and 101 women, are in the fray for Haryana's 90 constituencies which voted in single phase on October 5. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate said that the figures haven’t been updated on EC website for quite some time, as trends suggested a decisive lead for BJP. She also said that she is confident of a Congress win in the state.

In the morning Cong opened its 'jhooth ki dukaan': BJP's Anil Vij on early trends 

BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt, Anil Vij is trailing by a margin of 1199 votes after 2/16 rounds of counting, as per latest EC data.

When asked about it, Vij started singing, "Mein zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya, har fikr ko dhuyen mein udata chala gaya...."

AAP yet to open account; Saini, Hooda, Anil Vij leading 

According to TV reports, trends available from 78 of the 90 seats in Haryana showed that the Congress was leading on 48 seats -- the majority mark is 46 --while the BJP was ahead on 23. The INLD was leading on three seats, while the AAP is yet to start.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was leading from his Ladwa seat in Kurukshetra district, while Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda was ahead of his rivals in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency in Rohtak district.

BJP leader Anil Vij was leading from his Ambala Cantt seat. Indian National Lok Dal leader Abhay Singh Chautala was ahead from his Ellenabad constituency, according to early trends.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala's son Aditya Surjewala was leading from Kaithal seat.

'Will complete hat-trick in Haryana...,' BJP leaders still hopeful as Cong crosses halfway mark in early trends

"These are just early trends; on some channels, BJP is ahead, while on others, it's slightly behind. As the day progresses and the results become clearer, I believe BJP will win with a massive majority and complete a hat-trick in Haryana. We will form the government here...In Jammu and Kashmir, BJP is steadily progressing, and I am confident that this time BJP will make history there," said BJP leader Syed Zafar Islam on the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir election results 2024.

Trends show Cong ahead in Haryana; Nayab Saini, Hooda leading in their seats

While some reports from the counting of postal ballots showed the Congress ahead on 26 seats and the BJP 21.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was leading from his Ladwa seta in Kurukshetra district, while Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda was ahead of his rivals in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency in Rohtak district.

Congress leading in 30 seats, BJP ahead in 20 

Vinesh Phogat, Savitri Jindal, Bhupinder Hooda leading

While Vinesh and Hooda are Congress candidates, Savitri Jindal contested the polls as an independent candidate from Hisar.

Vinesh contested the polls from Julana constituency while Hooda is representing his stronghold Garhi Sampla-Kiloi seat in Rohtak district.
