Congress OBC Department head Ajay Yadav on Wednesday appeared to question the leadership over Haryana debacle, hinting that the party failed to perform well in southern parts of the state due to non-representation of Ahirwal community in the leadership.

Yadav, a backward class leader from Haryana, also said making him the chairperson of OBC Department is an "eyewash" and that it is a "toothless" post. Belonging to the Ahirwal community, Yadav was at loggerheads with the dominant Bhupinder Hooda faction.

"The party should introspect for its failure in southern Haryana especially Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendragarh and Faridabad where it won just 1 seat. Ahirwal has no representation in CWC, CEC , AICC General Secretaries and even in HPCC...Chairman AICC OBC is an eyewash and toothless," he said tagging Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in a post on 'X'.

Hooda camp is said to have managed to prevent Yadav from getting a ticket to fight Gurugram Lok Sabha seat earlier this year. Congress candidate Raj Babbar lost to BJP's Rao Inderjit Singh, who also belongs to Ahirwal community.

Haryana Congress sources said the results from Haryana was shocking and it was mainly due to anti-Jat consolidation against the party.

Yadav also sought to bring in the fight over Chief Ministership as a factor for the defeat. "Tussle in Haryana Congress for becoming CM before getting the people’s mandate was a big blunder," he said in a separate post.
