It must be noted here that exit polls are different from Opinion Polls which are conducted just before the elections. In simple words, the Election Commission defines Exit Poll to be a survey that is conducted based on a set of questions that are asked to voters exiting the polling stations after casting their vote.

The Congress has decided not to participate in any Lok Sabha exit poll debates on the television channels and said it does not want to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP.

A day after Congress said it is not going to part of exit polls, the grand old party on Saturday said that it will participate in the exit polls, just hours before the poll predictions.
The decision was taken after senior leaders of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc met in Delhi on Saturday to discuss their strategy for the counting of votes on June 4.
The voter turnout for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections was recorded at 58.3 per cent till 5 pm in 57 constituencies across seven states and a UT on Saturday. Now, all eyes will shift to the exit polls, which will be announced at 6.30 pm. The fate of all political parties in the fray will be decided on June 5 and most importantly it will determine whether the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government can secure a majority of its own for the third time or the I.N.D.I.A. bloc can stage a surprise comeback.
History has showed that exit polls can sometimes be way off the mark. One of the most prominent and recent examples is that of the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.
The exit polls in 2004 predicted a comfortable majority for the NDA, led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee's BJP government, with most claiming that the NDA are set to win something around 240 to 275 seats. But on the contrary, Congress and its allies formed the government at the Centre.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said that I.N.D.I.A. bloc will get more than 295 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, just hours before exit polls are to be announced.
Addressing reporters after a meeting of top leaders of the opposition bloc at his residence, Kharge said, "The I.N.D.I.A. bloc will get more than 295 seats. We have arrived at this figure after speaking with all our leaders."
According to India Today-Axis, the I.N.D.I.A. is expected to win anywhere between 33 to 37 seats in Tamil Nadu while NDA will win around 2 to 4 seats.
The India News-D-Dyanimcs exit polls has predicted a landslide victory for the BJP-led NDA with 371 seats. The I.N.D.I.A. bloc, meanwhile, is likely to settle at 125 seats.
The Republic TV-P Marq Exit Poll shows the NDA will win 359 seats while I.N.D.I.A. bloc will win 154 seats.
In Kerala, Congress-led UDF will bag 15-18 seats, predicts CNN-News18 poll of polls. It has given 2-5 seats to the Left and 1-3 to the BJP.
According to Jan ki Baat exit poll, the NDA is set to bag between 362 and 392 seats while the I.N.D.I.A. bloc will manage between 141 to 161 seats.
In Bihar, the I.N.D.I.A. bloc seems to be biting the dust, with people of the state once again giving the mandate to the BJP-JD(U) alliance. The India Today-Axis My India exit poll has predicted 29-33 seats for NDA and 7-10 seats for I.N.D.I.A. bloc.
The India Today-Axis My India predicts a landslide 28-29 seats win for the BJP while a rout for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won all 29 seats except the Kamal Nath's citadel of Chhindwara.

The News Nation exit poll said the BJP-led NDA will win between 342-378 seats and return to form its third successive government.

The Dainik Bhaskar Exit Poll shows the NDA will win 281-350 seats while I.N.D.I.A. bloc will win 145-201 seats.

ABP News-C Voter predicted 23-25 for NDA and 3-5 for the Congress.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday said he has no faith in exit polls and predicted that the Congress will cross double digits in the state in the Lok Sabha elections, but refrained from giving any figures.
The party leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress President had been claiming that the party will win 15-20 out of 28 seats in the state.
"I have said that I have no faith in the exit polls. Today also, I'm saying the same thing. Someone called me just now saying that they (channels) are showing that we will get only two or three or four seats in Karnataka. We will get more than double digit, wait and see," Shivakumar told reporters here.
He said, "I have no faith in exit polls and their assessment, as they don't go interior. They would have done it based on some sample size, I don't believe in it. The INDIA bloc is ready to take over the mantles."
