Exit polls predict favourable verdict to BJP-JD(S) Alliance in Karnataka

Exit polls for the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday carried a rude shock for Congress as none gave the ruling party a double-digit figure while showing the BJP-JD(S) alliance in a comfortable spot, prompting Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to reject the numbers.

No faith in exit polls, Congress will cross double digits in Karnataka, says Shivakumar

"I have said that I have no faith in the exit polls. Today also, I'm saying the same thing. Someone called me just now saying that they (channels) are showing that we will get only two or three or four seats in Karnataka. We will get more than double digit, wait and see", Shivakumar told reporters.

The party leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress President have been claiming that the party will win 15-20 out of 28 seats in the state.

BJP will come to power at Centre, says Kolar Congress MLA

Congress MLA from Kolar, Kothur Manjunath has said that the BJP will come to power at the Centre in 2024, while predicting a Congress victory in 2029.

"The exit polls are claiming that BJP will come to power. Unlike others who claim that Congress will win the elections, I won't lie. It was well-known that the BJP had a higher chance of returning to power. Our target is 2029. We are already preparing to win the next election," Manjunath said.

Belagavi: Counting of votes for the Lok Sabha election for Chikkodi parliamentary constituency began in the premises of RD College in Chikkodi and for Belgaum parliamentary constituency in the premises of RPD College here on Tuesday.

Strong rooms wherein EVMs and postal ballots were stored were opened by the election authorities in the presence of election observers and election agents of the candidates. Postal ballots were being counted in two different rooms and EVMs in counting rooms earmarked. Counting of ballot votes commenced at 8:00 am in the presence of election agents of candidates.

Chikkodi has 18 candidates in fray and is witnessing straight contest between BJP candidate sitting MP Annasaheb Jolle and Congress candidate Priyanka Jarkiholi.

The 18 candidates in fray from Chikkodi are Annasaheb Jolle of BJP, Priyanka Jarkiholi of Congress, Appasaheb Kurane of Sarva Janata Party, Kumar Dongre of Karnataka Rashtra Samiti, Pavankumar Malage from Bahujan Bharat Party, Satyeppa Kaleli from Bharatiya Jawan Kisan Party, independents Kadayya Hiremath, Kashinath Kurane, Gajanan Pujari, Jitendra Nerli, Bhimsen Sanadi, Mahesh Ashok, Mohan Motannavar, Yaseen Pataki, Vilas Mannur, Shambhu Kallolikar, Shreenik Jangate and Sammed Vardhmane.

Belgaum has 13 candidates in fray and is witnessing straight contest between BJP candidate former chief minister Jagadish Shettar and Congress candidate Mrinal Hebbalkar.

The 13 candidates in fray from Belgaum are Jagadish Shettar of BJP, Mrinal Hebbalkar of Congress, Mallappa Chougula of Uttam Prajakiya Party, Basappa Kumbar of Karnataka Rashtra Samiti, Ashok Appugol of BSP, Laxman Jadgannavar of SUCI and independents Mahadev Patil (MES backed), Ashok Hanji, Nitin A M, Pundalik Itnal, Ravi Padasalagi, Vijay Metrani and Ashfaqahmed Ustad.

Chikkodi with 78.66% polling, 3.13% increase over the previous election. Votes polled in Chikkodi were 13,85,688.

Belgaum with 71.49%, 3.79% up compared to previous time. Votes polled in Belgaum were 13,75,383.

Bangalore South BJP MP candidate prays at home, as counting of votes begin in Karnataka

BJP Candidate Dr K Sudhakar and JD(S) candidate Mallesh Babu lead in Chikkaballapur and Kolar, respectively.

Reports are also coming in that Congress candidate Priyanka Jarkiholi has gained initial lead in Chikkodi.

BJP Belgaum candidate Jagadish Shettar is leading by 3,482 votes.

Shettar polled 30,404 votes in round one and Congress candidate Mrinal Hebbalkar polled 26,922 votes.

The counting of votes began.in government science college in the Chitradurga city. As many as 20 candidates including Govind Karjol of BJP and BN Chandrappa of Congress are in the fray.

Counting of votes begin in Mysuru

Counting of postal votes began at 8.34 am. Counting of votes polled in EVMs to begin soon.

Counting held in 20 rounds in 14 tables each for each Assembly Constituency including Krishna Raja, Chamaraja, Narasimha Raja, Chamundeshwari, Hunsur, Periyapatna constituencies in Mysuru district, Virajpet and Madikeri assembly constituencies.

NDA leads in 19 seats, Congress in 2 seats

BJP is leading in Gulbarga, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Bangalore Rural, Mysore, Chitradurga (SC), and Chikkaballapur. JD(S) is leading in two seats-- Mandya and Kolar (SC).

In Shimoga, BY Raghavendra of BJP has received 26,691 votes, Geetha Shivaraj Kumar of Congress has got 18,641 votes and former deputy chief minister KS Eshwarappa got only 1277 votes after the first round.

After second round, H D Kumaraswamy leads with 87,042 votes against Venkataramanegowda of Cong with 53,874 votes in Mandya segment.

In Mysore-Kodagu constituency, BJP candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has secured 36,740 votes in postal ballot counting. He leads with 8,166 votes margin over Congress candidate M Lakshmana.

In Vijayapura, six-time MP Ramesh Jigjinagi is leading, in Bagalkot sitting MP P C Gaddigoudar and in Dharwad union minister Pralhad Joshi is leading.

Congress candidate Priyanka Jarkiholi is leading by 8,533 votes in Chikkodi against BJP candidate Annasaheb Jolle. Jarkiholi polled 39,386 votes and Jolle 31,303 votes

In Dharwad, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi gets a healthy lead of 2,000 votes during the first round of counting.

Uttara Kannada: BJP candidate Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri leads by 19,127 votes against Congress candidate Dr Anjali Nimbalkar.

Chitradurga Lok Sabha constituency is witnessing close fight between Govind Karjol of BJP and BN Chandrappa of Congress.

Even in Ballari, Congress-BJP is witnessing neck-to-neck fight. Currently, Congress candidate E Tukaram is leading with 3,940 votes against BJP'S B Sriramulu.

While Tukaram has so far bagged 38,303 votes Sriramulu has managed to get 34,363 votes.

BJP candidate Dr Basavaraj Kyavater takes a slender lead against Congress candidate Rajashekhar Hitnal on Koppal.

After the fifth round of counting, Prajwal Revanna leads with slender margin. He has polled 1,30,274 votes, against Shreyas Patel of Congress with 1,29,876 votes

In a related development, BJP candidate Capt Brijesh Chowta leads by 11,088 votes against Congress candidate Padmaraj R Poojary in Dakshina Kannada Lok sabha constituency.

In the Mysore-Kodagu constituency, BJP candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has so far secured 94,662 votes in first round of counting and leads with a margin of 12,484 votes against Congress candidate M Lakshmana.

In Mandya, H D Kumaraswamy leads with a margin of 33,168 votes against Star Chandru (Venkataramanegowda) of Congress.

In Chamarajanagar, Sunil Bose of Congress continues to lead with 40,829 votes against S Balaraju with 30,490 votes.

BJP Belgaum candidate Jagadish Shettar is leading by 29,486 votes. Shettar polled 1,19,000 votes and Congress candidate Mrinal Hebbalkar polled 89,514 votes.

BJP candidate Capt Brijesh Chowta leads by 6,288 votes against Congress candidate Padmaraj R Poojary in Dakshina Kannada Lok sabha constituency.

Tejasvi Surya has secured 51,692 votes and Sowmya Reddy has got 23,232 votes.

In a related development, BJP candidate Capt Brijesh Chowta leads by 15,377 votes against Congress candidate Padmaraj R Poojary in Dakshina Kannada Lok sabha constituency. Brijesh polled 68,609 votes while Padmaraj 53,232 votes and NOTA polled 2,171 votes.

In the first round, BJP candidate Kota Srinivasa Poojary is ahead of Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde by 37,687 votes in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency.

Kota Srinivas Poojary has secured 93,052 votes and Jayaprakash Hegde polled 55,365.

BJP candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar secures 1,64,337 votes. He leads with a margin of 35,467 votes against Congress candidate M Lakshmana in the Mysore-Kodagu LS Constituency.

Congress candidate Priyanka Jarkiholi is leading by 33,000 votes in Chikkodi against BJP candidate Annasaheb Jolle.

BJP Belgaum candidate Jagadish Shettar is leading by 51,205 votes. Shettar has polled 1,81,953 votes and Congress candidate Mrinal Hebbalkar polled 1,30,748 votes.

After 6th round, Shreyas Patel of Congress has taken a lead of 821 votes against Prajwal Revanna.

In a related development, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has gained a healthy lead of 26,000 votes against Congress candidate Vinod Asuti.

After three rounds, Joshi has polled 1.86 lakh votes.

Congress candidate Priyanka Jarkiholi is leading by 35,126 votes in Chikkodi against BJP candidate Annasaheb Jolle.

Jarkiholi has bagged 2,01,236 votes and Jolle has polled 1,66,110 votes.

In Ballari, Congress candidate E Tukaram continues his lead (45,054) against BJP'S B Sriramulu. Tukaram has bagged 2.02 lakh votes, while Sriramulu has polled 1.57 lakh votes.

NDA leads in 20, Congress leads in 8

After the first round of counting of votes polled in Udupi-Chickmagalur Lok Sabha segment,  Kota Srinivasa Poojary of BJP leads with 14,453 votes.  Poojary has received 42,912 votes and Jayaprakash Hegde ( Congress) has bagged 28,459 votes.

BJP Bangalore North candidate Shobha Karandlaje leading by 22,863 votes against Rajeev Gowda of Congress.

BJP candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has secured 250513 votes. He is leading with a margin of 59,813 votes against Congress candidate M Lakshmana in the Mysore-Kodagu LS Constituency.

In Belagavi, BJP candidate Jagadish Shettar is leading by 76,588 votes. Shettar has bagged 2,91,246 votes and Congress candidate Mrinal Hebbalkar has polled 2,14,658 votes.

Shettar bagged 5,02,974 votes and Congress candidate Mrinal Hebbalkar polled 4,01,529 votes.

Bidar: Sagar Khandre of Congress has bagged 4,11,305. Union minister Bhagwanth Khuba is trailing by 1,00,920 votes.

Kalaburagi: Radhakrishna Doddamani of Congress secured 3,87,095 votes; he is leading by 13,159 votes against BJP's Umesh Jadhav (3,73,936 votes).

Koppal: Congress’s Rajashekhar Hitnal manages to increase his lead by 34,637 votes against BJP’s Basavaraj Kyavater. Congress has polled 5.14 lakh votes; BJP: 4.79 lakh votes;

Chamarajanagar: Congress candidate Sunil Bose gains a huge lead of 1.10 lakh votes.

Mandya: NDA candidate H D Kumaraswamy is on the way to victory with a lead of 2 lakh votes. After the end of eight rounds of counting, Bose has secured 4,82,294 votes and Balaraj of BJP has received 3,71,528 votes.

Hassan: After the completion of 16th round, Congress candidate Shreyas Patel leads with 41,782 votes against NDA candidate Prajwal Revanna. Shreyas has polled 6,12,448 votes, while Prajwal has secured 5,70,666 votes.

Ballari: After 10 rounds of counting, Congress’s E Tukaram has extended his lead by 78,126 against BJP’s B Sriramulu. Congress: 5,24,034 ; BJP: 4,45,908.

Haveri: After the eighth round of counting of votes, BJP candidate Basavaraj Bommai's lead against Anandswamy Gaddadevarmath of Congress increases to 22,318 votes. BJP: 3,20,198 votes; Congress 2,97,880 votes.

Bengaluru South: BJP's Tejasvi Surya has bagged 4,57,471 votes. He has a healthy lead of 2,13,834 against Sowmya Reddy in Bangalore South.

Bangalore North: Shobha Karandlaje has received 3,90,368 votes. She leads by 1,00,406 votes against Rajeev Gowda of Congress.

Bangalore Central: Mansoor Ali Khan of Congress has polled 3,64,881votes. He is leading over BJP's PC Mohan by 65,658 votes.

Bangalore Rural: BJP's Dr C N Manjunath has bagged 6,37,931 votes, leading by 1,50,524 votes against DK Suresh of Congress. The latter is brother of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.

Chikkaballapur: BJP's Dr K Sudhakar has bagged 4,70,550 votes, an is leading by 92,092 against Raksha Ramaiah of Congress.

Dakshin Kannada: Capt Brijesh Chowta's leads by 1,03,667 votes. He polled 439958 votes and Padmaraj R Poojary of Congress has secured 336291 while NOTA polled 13,769 votes.

After the fourth round of counting of votes, Kota Srinivasa Poojary of BJP is ahead of Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde by 72,862 votes in Udupi-Chickmagalur Lok Sabha constituency.

H D Kumaraswamy leads by a margin of 2,52,060 votes.

HDK has polled 6,92,036 votes, Star Chandru of Congress has received 4,40,976 votes.

In a related development, After 17 rounds of counting in Ballari, Congress’s E Tukaram has taken a substantial lead of 89,257 votes against BJP’s B Sriramulu. Congress: 6.92 lakh votes; BJP: 6.03 lakh votes;

In Mysuru, BJP candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has secured 6,04,458 votes. He continues to lead with a healthy margin of 1,03,854 votes against Congress candidate M Lakshmana.

In Dakshina Kannada, Capt Brijesh Chowta has increased its lead by 1,16,990 votes.

Capt chowta has polled 5,05,711 votes and Padmaraj R Poojary of Congress secured 3,88,721. NOTA has polled 15,383 votes

Incumbent Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of rape and serial sex abuse, has lost against Congress’ Shreyas M Patel.

Prajwal has lost by 40,000 votes against Patel, which has helped Congress win the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency after 25 years. Patel had lost against Prajwal’s father HD Revanna from Holenarsipur in the Assembly polls last year.

Haveri: BJP candidate Basavaraj Bommai has won, but official announcement is awaited.

After the final round (19th round) of counting of votes, Bommai leads by 34,164 votes against Anandswamy Gaddadevarmath of Congress. BJP: 6,29,992, Congress: 5,95,828 votes (excluding postal votes).

In a related development, Capt Brijesh Chowta has increased his lead by 1,37,123 votes in Dakshin Kannada.

Capt chowta has bagged 6,13,488 votes and Padmaraj R Poojary of Congress secured 4,76,365.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's brother and Bangalore Rural MP DK Suresh concedes defeat.

"I thank people for electing me thrice. In my fourth run, people have given me rest. I thank all Congress leaders and workers. People have given their mandate, which I welcome. I congratulate Dr CN Manjunath," said Suresh.

BJP's Dr CN Manjunath, a noted cardiologist, has breached Bangalore Rural, which was a stronghold of the DK Brothers.

Dr Manjunath is currently leading by 1.90 lakh votes.

Belagavi: Congress candidate Priyanka Jarkiholi from Chikodi parliamentary constituency won the Lok Sabha election by defeating sitting MP Annasaheb Jolle, but official announcement was yet to be made.

As per latest update on ECI website, 27-year old Congress candidate Priyanka Jarkiholi has secured 4,20,536 votes. She leads by 78,686 votes against BJP's Annasaheb Shankar Jolle. The latter has received 3,41,850 votes.

Kota Srinivasa Poojary attributed his substantial lead over Jayaprakash Hegde to haed work of party workers and leaders.

"I.N.D.I.A promised to provide Rs one lakh for women posing a significant challenge to the BJP-led NDA. This deceptive tactic earned them votes," said Poojary. 

In Udupi-Chickamagalur, Kota Srinivasa Poojary secured 7,32,234 votes, with 259175 votes lead over Jayaprakash Hegde (473059) of Congress.

Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, BJP’s Uttara Kannada candidate recorded the highest victory margin in Karnataka.

In a related development, BJP candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has secured 7,21,569 votes. He continues to lead with a healthy margin of 1,15,231 votes against Congress candidate M Lakshmana in Mysore-Kodagu LS Constituency.

Chitradurga Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a very close fight between Govind Karjol of BJP and BN Chandrappa of Congress.

At the end, Karjol finally secured a win with 48,121 lead. The former bagged 6,84,890 votes and BN Chandrappa polled 6,36,769.

BJP candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar is close to victory as he has secured 7,78,468 votes. He leads by heathy margin of 1,32,813 votes against Congress candidate M Lakshmana in Mysore-Kodagu LS Constituency.

In a dramatic turn of events, BJP's PC Mohan who has been trailing Mansoor Ali Khan all afternoon, has emerged victorious.

In the last rounds of counting of votes in Mahadevapura and CV Raman Nagar, Mohan managed to secure unassailable lead in the Bangalore Central seat.

BJP is also leading in Bangalore North, Bangalore South and Bangalore Rurals seats.

In Bengaluru South, BJP's Tejasvi Surya has bagged 6,92,975 votes. He has a healthy lead of 2,49,857 against Sowmya Reddy (4,43,118 votes).

In Bangalore North, Shobha Karandlaje has received 8,48,347 votes. She leads by 2,33,652 votes against Rajeev Gowda of Congress (6,14,695 votes).

BJP's Dr C N Manjunath has polled 10,75,553 votes, leading by 2,68,094 votes against DK Suresh of Congress (8,07,459 votes). The latter is brother of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.

Capt Brijesh Chowta wins Dakshina Kannada seat

While the official confirmation is awaited, Capt Brijesh Chowta has congragulated BJP workers for the win in Dakshina Kannada.

Capt Brijesh Chowta secured 7,64,132 votes, with 149208 votes lead over Padmaraj R Poojary (6,14,924) of Congress in Dakshina Kannada.

Out of three seats it contested in Karnataka, JD(S) has won two seats-- Mandya and Kolar (SC). Rape-accused Prajwal Revanna lost to Shreyas Patel of Congress.

Former CM HD Kumaraswamy won the Mandya seat by 2,84,620 votes margin against Star Chandru of Congress.

In Kolar, M Mallesh Babu bagged 6,91,481 votes, with 71,388 votes lead against K V Gowthan (6,20,093) of Congress.

Radhakrishna of Congress wins Gulbarga constituency

Mallikarjun Kharge's son-in-law Radhakrishna of Congress has won Gulbarga seat against Dr Umesh G Jadav.

Radhakrishna polled 6,52,321 votes, with 27,205 votes lead against BJP candidate (625116) .

BJP wins 11 seats, JD(S) gets two constituencies

As per the official ECI website, BJP has won 11 seats -- Bangalore Central, Tumkur, Chitradurga (SC), Haveri, Dharwad, Udupi-Chickamagalur, Mysore, Chikkaballapur, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Shimoga.

V Sommana secured 7,20,946 votes, with 1,75,594 votes lead over S P Muddahanumegowda of Congress in Tumkur.

Former Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai secured 7,05,538 votes, with 43,513 votes lead over Anandswamy Gaddadevarmath (6,62,025) of Congress in Haveri.

In Dharwad, Prahlad Joshi secured 7,16,231 votes, with 97,324 votes lead over Vinod Asooti (6,18,907 ) of Congress.

In Shimoga, B Y Raghavendra secured 7,78,721  votes, with 2,43,715 votes lead over Geetha Shivarajkumar (5,35,006) of Congress.

Capt Brijesh Chowta secured 7,64,132 votes, with 149208 votes lead over Padmaraj R Poojary (6,14,924) of Congress in Dakshina Kannada.

In Chitradurga (SC), Govind Karjol secured a win with 48,121 lead. The former bagged 6,84,890 votes and BN Chandrappa polled 6,36,769.

In Bangalore Central, BJP's PC Mohan secured a win with 32,707 lead. The former bagged 6,58,915 votes and Mansoor Ali Khan of Congress polled 6,26,208.

In Chikkaballapura, Dr K Sudhakar bagged 8,22,619 votes, with 1,49,208 votes lead over M S Raksha Ramaiah (6,59,159 votes) of Congress in Dakshina Kannada.

In Udupi-Chickamagalur, Kota Srinivasa Poojary secured 7,32,234 votes, with 259175 votes lead over Jayaprakash Hegde (473059) of Congress.

It is official that Congress succeeded in wresting Davangere Lok Sabha seat from BJP after a gap of 25 years.

Congress nominee Prabha Mallikarjun secured 6,33,059 votes, with 26,094 votes lead over BJP nominee Gayathri Siddeshwara (6,06,965 votes).

Congress secures seven seats, leading in two seats

Congress has won Gulbarga, Bellary, Davangere, Hassan, Raichur, Chamarajanagar (SC) and Bidar.

Congress candidate Prabha Mallikarjun secured 6,33,059 votes, with 26,094 votes lead over BJP nominee Gayathri Siddeshwara (6,06,965 votes) in Davangere.

Sagar Eshwar Khandre of Congress has bagged Bidar seat with 6,66,317 votes, with 1,28,875 votes lead over Union minister Bhagwanth Khuba (5,37,442 votes).

In Chamarajanagar, Congress candidate Sunil Bose polled 7,51,671  votes, with 1,88,706 votes lead against BJP candidate Balaraj S (5,62,965).

In Gulbarga, Mallikarjun Kharge's son-in-law Radhakrishna polled 6,52,321 votes, with 27,205 votes lead against BJP candidate Dr. Umesh G Jadav (6,25,116).

In Raichur, G Kumar Naik polled 6,70,966 votes, with 79,781 votes lead against BJP candidate Raja Amaresh Naik (5,91,185).

In Bellary, E Tukaram polled 7,30,845 votes, with 98,992 votes lead against BJP candidate B Sreeramulu (6,31,853).

In Hassan, incumbent MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of rape and serial sex abuse, lost by more than 40,000 votes against Congress’ Shreyas M Patel. The latter polled 6,72,988 votes.

As per latest updates on ECI website, Congress is leading in two seats-- Chikodi and Koppal.

Congress boosts LS seats tally to 9 in Karnataka, BJP gets 17 but loses ground

The BJP yielded ground to the Congress in Karnataka, as the ruling party boosted its Lok Sabha seats tally to nine on Tuesday, with the results being declared for polls held to 28 segments in the state. The BJP which sought to ride on the Modi factor won 17 seats -- down from 25 in 2019 Lok Sabha elections -- while its NDA partner, JD(S) won two constituencies.
