New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the BJP-led NDA candidates in the Lok Sabha polls to spread awareness among voters about the Congress' intention to snatch "reservation from SC, ST and OBC communities and give it away to their vote bank".
In a personal letter written to them, Modi accused the Congress and its allies of having divisive and discriminatory motives, even though reservation on the basis of religion is unconstitutional.
He also asked the karyakartas to take care of their health during the peak summer and urged them to ensure maximum turnout in booths.
Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya was one of those who sent out a post on X showing the personalised letter from the prime minister. In his letter to Mandaviya, Modi recalled how the union minister joined the Yuva Morcha at a young age, how his middle-class agricultural family background helps him to have a connect with the people, and his 123-km padyatra for the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign.
Modi urged Mandaviya to take up the issue of Congress’ “intentions” over religion-based reservation, which he termed as “divisive and discriminatory”.
“Their intention is to give reservation to their vote bank by snatching away reservation from SC, ST and OBC communities, even though reservation on the basis of religion is unconstitutional. They are bent upon snatching away the hard-earned money of the people and giving it to their vote bank. Congress has also made it clear that they will support dangerous ideas like ‘inheritance tax’. The country will have to unite to stop them,” Modi’s letter read.
“This election is a golden opportunity to build our present and bright future. This election is an important moment to get relief from the hardships that our family and the elders of the family have endured during the five-six decades of Congress rule,” it further read.
Modi also said that while the heat is unbearable, and people are facing trouble, what must be borne in mind is that these elections are important.
“This election is very important for the future of this nation. So my appeal to people is that they go to vote early in the morning to avoid the sun,” he wrote. He added that it is important that the BJP workers urge people to go out and vote and focus their energies on winning the booth.
