A despondent Congress in Karnataka has congratulated the BJP for “a resounding victory” in Karnataka as well as in other states in the Lok Sabha election whose results were out Thursday.
“In a democracy people’s verdict is sacrosanct,” Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao said in a tweet, making it the party's first reaction to the results “I wish Mr Modi the very best and hope in his second term as PM will build a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive India,” he added.
The Congress is leading in just two Lok Sabha segments - Bangalore Rural and Chamarajanagar - in what could be its worst performance ever. The BJP is leading in 24 out of the 28 seats in Karnataka.
