Mumbai: Thinking out-of-the-box, NCP President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday released his vision for Maharashtra in a state-wide manifesto as well as dwelled on micro-planning for each of the seats the party is contesting by releasing constituency-specific manifestos.
Ajit Pawar, a seven-time Baramati MLA and five-time Deputy Chief Minister released the manifesto in Baramati for the state and especially for the constituency.
NCP Working President Praful Patel released the manifesto in Gondia while State President Sunil Tatkare released it in Mumbai.
This is for the first time that a political party launched the party’s manifesto for all the assembly constituencies it is contesting.
NCP candidates and local leaders released the poll manifestos in their respective constituencies across all the assembly constituencies.
“We will present the New Maharashtra Vision within 100 days of government formation,” Ajit Pawar said in Baramati.
The party has promised to increase the amount under Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana from existing Rs 1,500 per month to Rs 2,100 per month.
"This initiative will be the largest monthly DBT transfer in Maharashtra’s history providing benefits of Rs 25,000 per year to over 2.3 crore women,” he added.
The NCP’s manifesto consists of 11 new promises, and it talks about increasing the old age pension from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100 per month.
For farmers, the party has promised to raise the Shetkari Sanman Nidhi from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 per year, combining support from both the central and state governments.
The manifesto also talks about waiving the farmers loan and giving 20 per cent additional subsidy for all crops sold under MSP. Besides this, NCP has also given assurance of ₹25,000 per hectare bonus for paddy farmers.
“We have resolved to build more than 45,000 ‘panand’ roads in rural parts of Maharashtra. This is the biggest plan to develop the rural agricultural infrastructure’, the manifesto reads.
Other promises include a commitment to create 2.5 million jobs and provide monthly stipends of Rs 10,000 to 1 million students through training.
A promise of Rs 15,000 monthly salary for Anganwadi and ASHA workers, commitment to reduce electricity bills by 30 per cent while prioritising solar and renewable energy.
“We vow to implement measures that will curb the prices of essential commodities, making them more affordable for everyone”, read the manifesto document.
The simultaneous launch of the manifesto in all the constituencies contested by the NCP transformed the manifesto release into a mega high-tech event. The top leaders of the party joined the manifesto event via video conferencing, and a new campaign song was also launched for the Maharashtra elections.
Assembly Elections 2024 | The Maharashtra Assembly polls will take place against the backdrop of a fractured political landscape in the western state where the Shiv Sena and NCP will be going up against the Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar factions, even as the BJP and Congress try to make their mark. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the JMM faces a new challenge after Hemant Soren's recent arrest and Champai, a longstanding party member, joining the BJP. The Haryana election resulted in a shock loss for Congress, which was looking to galvanize on the Lok Sabha poll performance, while J&K also saw the grand old party eventually stepping away from the cabinet, with Omar Abdullah's JKNC forming government. It remains to be seen if the upcoming polls help BJP cement its position further or provide a fillip to I.N.D.I.A.
