Former Big Boss fame actor-turned politician Ajaz Khan who has a massive following of 5.6 million on social media platform Instagram, faced a major loss in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections held on November 20. Khan managed to win just a meagre 155 votes, lesser than even NOTA (1,298) in Versova.
Khan had contested from the Versova seat with a ticket from Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) and managed to get only 155 votes.
Khan, in an audio message to DH, however, said that his purpose of fighting elections was to bring forth the problems faced by the common people.
"Whenever someone joins a political party, they try and follow their ideals, I did the same, followed Aazad's ideals. In our party, the ground level people are less in number, this is not the end of elections. I will try and help the party however I can. I will travel to other places also if needed," Khan said.
Khan said that people talking about his loss more than other people's win is enough for him. "This time many people, veteran politicians who lost had more money and resources at their disposal. But everyone is discussing my loss, can't expect more than this from Allah," Khan said.
Khan also took to Instagram where he indirectly spoke about his defeat and called it 'evm ka ghotala'.
The Congress on Saturday described the Maharashtra poll outcome as "inexplicable" and claimed that the level-playing field was disturbed in a targeted manner as part of a conspiracy to defeat it.
The Mahayuti of BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP registered a comfortable victory in the state.
