Mumbai: Even as the government formation process is under way, BJP’s strength increased by five MLAs with the support of legislators elected from smaller parties and independent members.

The BJP, which leads the Maha Yuti-NDA coalition, won 132 seats out of the 149 it contested.

In the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the magic figure is 145.

BJP’s main pre-poll partners are Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, which won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

The Jan Surajya Shakti led by Vinay Kore, that had won two seats, announced its support to BJP.

These include Kore, who won the Shahuwadi seat and his party colleague Ashok Mane who won Hatkanangle seat. Both these seats are in Kolhapur district.

Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party founder Ravi Rana, who won the Badnera seat of Amravati district for the fourth time extended support to BJP.

Independent candidate Shivaji Patil, who won the Chandgad seat of Kolhapur district extended support to BJP.

Rashtriya Samaj Paksha’s Ratnakar Gutte, who won the Gangakhed seat in Parbhani district, too aligned with the BJP.

They have informed about their support to BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, the chief architect of the Maha Yuti-NDA sweep.
