Vanga is the son of former BJP MP Chintaman Vanga.

During the June-July 2022 rebellion, he joined Eknath Shinde, the now Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader, after ditching Uddhav Thackeray, who is now the Shiv Sena (UBT).

After BJP’s Rajendra Gavit joined Shiv Sena and was given ticket from Palghar (ST) for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly polls, an upset Vanga left home on Monday evening.

Shinde has assured a berth to Vanga in the Maharashtra Legislative Council.

Vanga’s wife Suman Vanga told local mediapersons on Wednesday morning that her husband got in touch with the Vanga family and assured them that he is safe.

“He is disturbed and in deep stress… He said he was very tired, so needed to take rest. He also consulted a doctor but has again left for an unknown place with his friends,” she said.

Assembly Elections 2024 | The Maharashtra Assembly polls will take place against the backdrop of a fractured political landscape in the western state where the Shiv Sena and NCP will be going up against the Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar factions, even as the BJP and Congress try to make their mark. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the JMM faces a new challenge after Hemant Soren's recent arrest and Champai, a longstanding party member, joining the BJP. The Haryana election resulted in a shock loss for Congress, which was looking to galvanize on the Lok Sabha poll performance, while J&K also saw the grand old party eventually stepping away from the cabinet, with Omar Abdullah's JKNC forming government. It remains to be seen if the upcoming polls help BJP cement its position further or provide a fillip to I.N.D.I.A.
