Mumbai: In the run up to the Vidhan Sabha polls in Maharashtra, the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi on Wednesday assured five guarantees which include a caste census, removal of 50 per cent cap on reservation and Rs 3,000 per month help to women and free travel in government buses besides loan waiver upto Rs 3 lakh for farmers.
The guarantees were launched at a Maha Vikas Aghadi rally at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
The guarantees were launched by the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray and NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar.
The Congress-led MVA (I.N.D.I.A.) assured to launch Mahalaxmi scheme in which Rs 3,000 per month help would be given to women besides free travel in state transport buses for women and girls.
The Congress assured to conduct caste census and remove the 50 per cent cap on reservation.
For farmers, the MVA assured loan waiver up to Rs 3 lakh to farmers and incentive of Rs 50,000 for regular loan repayment.
The opposition alliance also assured health insurance up to Rs. 25 lakh and free medicines.
Besides, assistance up to Rs.4000 per month to unemployed youth will be extended.
