Thackeray, as 'kutumb-pramukh' (family head) has made the assurances in the Shiv Sena (UBT) ‘vachannama’ (manifesto) that he released on Thursday.

Thackeray spoke about scrapping the existing tender for the Dharavi redevelopment project -- a promise that he has been making in election rallies. “We will give houses to Dharavikars in Dharavi and they would also be able to do business there,” he said.

The Gautam Adani-led Adani Group is redeveloping the slum cluster through the Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd (DRPPL), a joint venture between the Government of Maharashtra and the Adani Group.

Thackeray said that the super-refinery project at Barsu would be scrapped.

People at the Barsu-Solgaon in Rajapur tehsil of Ratnagiri district are against the Ratnagiri Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (RRPCL).

The Rs 3 lakh crore project will be the largest single-location refinery complex in the world.

It will have a capacity of 60 million tonnes. The Indian consortium consisting of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) signed an MoU with Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) for setting up India's largest refinery and petroleum complex.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) manifesto comes a day after the Maha Vikas Aghadi released their five guarantees in the joint rally of the three alliance partners which also include Congress and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP).

Thackeray offered free education for male students, stabilising prices of essential items and construction of temples of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in each of the 36 districts of the state.

Thackeray said if the MVA comes to power, it will scrap cluster development of Koliwadas and Gaothans and it will be done after taking the residents into confidence.

Assembly Elections 2024 | The Maharashtra Assembly polls will take place against the backdrop of a fractured political landscape in the western state where the Shiv Sena and NCP will be going up against the Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar factions, even as the BJP and Congress try to make their mark. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the JMM faces a new challenge after Hemant Soren's recent arrest and Champai, a longstanding party member, joining the BJP. The Haryana election resulted in a shock loss for Congress, which was looking to galvanize on the Lok Sabha poll performance, while J&K also saw the grand old party eventually stepping away from the cabinet, with Omar Abdullah's JKNC forming government. It remains to be seen if the upcoming polls help BJP cement its position further or provide a fillip to I.N.D.I.A.
