Rubbishing exit poll results which predicted a return to power by the BJP-led NDA West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Sunday alleged that it is a ploy to manipulate or replace thousands of EVMs.

She also dubbed the exit poll predictions as gossip and urged the Opposition parties to be united.

“ I don’t trust Exit Poll gossip. The game plan is to manipulate or replace thousands of EVMs through this gossip. I appeal to all Opposition parties to be united, strong and bold. We will fight this battle together,” tweeted Banerjee.

Dubbing the exit polls as “conspiracy” Banerjee said that it is a ploy to replace thousands of EVMs.

“It is a game plan planted by Narendra Modi government… It is totally gossip. None of them (channels showing exit poll results) are messengers of God who will know from machines (EVMS) whom people voted for. I don’t trust their theories. They said in 2016 that we will lose (in the Assembly elections.

The Chief Minister further alleged that “ it is a conspiracy. You remember that Narendra Modi during a public meeting in Bengal said they will get 300 seats and will get some more in Bengal. He said so because by spreading this gossip he tried to establish a falsehood as truth so that thousands of EVMs can be replaced. They tried to do it in Madhya Pradesh and got caught. This is my hunch.”

She also said that the exit poll results were a plan by the BJP to ensure that a united opposition does not materialise.

“ By spreading that BJP is returning to power they (BJP) tried to tell the opposition parties that now it is no use coming together. This is planning to weaken the opposition alliance so that they don’t become active,” she said.

“Third, you have noticed that all this time when campaigning was going on someone or the other supported NIFTY by pumping in money. This will boost and manipulate the share market tomorrow...So I think it is absolutely wrong and do not believe in any exit polls,” said Banerjee.
