RJD leader and the Mahagatbandhan Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi too had six siblings.
Tejashwi was responding to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s jibe that “those who have nine children are giving me lecture on development”.
Lalu and Rabri have seven daughters and two sons. Tejashwi is the youngest son.
The JD (U) strongman, without naming Lalu Prasad or Rabri Devi, said a day before in Vaishali, “In the hope of a boy, some people gave birth to seven daughters, which clearly shows they don’t have faith in girls. And such people are giving me lectures on 'vikas' (development) ”
It was Tejashwi’s turn to respond to Nitish’s uncharacteristic attack, on Tuesday, as the Bihar CM is not known to get personal in any of the elections so far.
Tejashwi, the eighth child of former CM Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, tweeted that Nitish Kumar's insults were also like "blessings" for him. However, he told reporters that the JD(U) leader had insulted "women and my mother's sentiments".
"Does anyone care? They have eight-nine children. After so many daughters, they had a son. You all can see - this is the kind of Bihar they want to make," Nitish Kumar said in his election rally on Monday.
On Tuesday, it was Tejashwi’s turn to respond to Nitish’s uncharacteristic attack, as the Bihar CM is not known to get personal in any of the elections so far.
“By commenting so, Nitish Kumar is targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi too, as the PM also has six siblings. Besides, Nitish Ji has not only insulted my mother but the entire womanhood. But let me tell you, each and every abuse of Nitish is like a blessings to me," Tejashwi said.
"He is mentally and physically tired. His speeches are listless and devoid of content. It’s high time for him to take retirement. Or else, the voters of Bihar will force Nitish to retire on November 10,” said Tejashwi, in an oblique reference to the counting day, after the third and final phase of polling.
Bihar’s first phase of voting will take place on October 28 in 71 out of 243 constituencies and the three-phase polls will end on Nov 7. The counting will take place on November 10.
