In what could be an indication of a clear-cut wave in favour of YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the YSR Congress Party is leading in 138 assembly segments in the 175-seat Assembly pushing ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to the second position with a majority in only 36 seats by the end of the second round.

The YSRCP has maintained its upper hand from round one in which the postal ballot was counted. The Janasena Party led by actor Pawan Kalyan is leading in only one seat in Gajuwaaka in which Pawan Kalyan is contesting. In the Bhimavaram seat the second segment where the actor is contesting, the TSRCP candidate is leading.

While Jagan’s party had swept the Rayalaseema region, TDP’s loss seems to be uniform all over the state. The YSRCP’s leads in coastal Andhra including the capital region of Amaravati that includes Krishna and Guntur also YSRCP made deep inroads. The Jagan’s wave also hurt several ministers in Naidu’s cabinet. State Home Minister Chinaraajappa and HRD Minister Gantaa Srinivasa Rao seems to have escaped that wave.

Meanwhile, party cadre and senior leaders started pouring at the Tadeplli residence cum office of Jagan. The cadre, however, are waiting for results to start celebrations. Sweets have been distributed at the media centre erected opposite Jagan's residence.

Additional police force and traffic police have been rushed to regulate crowds at Jagan’s residence. In contrast, there was a sullen mood at the TDP party office here in Guntur and Vijayawada.
