The engagement of actor Pooja Gandhi with industrialist Anand Gowda has broken up, leading to accusations and counter-accusations by the two parties.
While Anand has held Pooja’s mother, Jyothi, as being responsible for the break-up, Pooja has blamed Anand for the episode.
The two got engaged at a private function at the actor’s Katriguppe residence on November 15. The two families had decided that the wedding will take place in April 2013.
Confirming the break-up, Gowda told Deccan Herald: “Pooja’s mother created problems over trivial issues. She not only blamed me for my dark complexion, but was also dissatisfied with our food habits.
She belittled me all the while. My nine-bedroom house has grown small for Pooja’s family. Fed up with their greed, I decided to call off the marriage.” Anand said Pooja too was no different.
“A puppet in her mother’s hand, Pooja, who seemed fine with everything till the engagement, is now striking a different chord.
Did not she know what my personality was before the engagement? I supported her stance on films and politics as well. Now, I regret having done so,” Anand said.
Shedding a new light to the story, Anand said Pooja owed him a hefty amount.
“If she fails to repay the amount, I shall approach the media with all the requisite documents,” he said.
Pooja, in her interview to a private television channel, rubbished Anand’s allegations as baseless. Instead, she has accused Anand of being responsible for the break-up.
“My mother facilitated our engagement. How can she be blamed for the break-up? Anand suspected me over everything. Unable to handle that, I decided to call it quits,” she said.
