The audio album of actor Rajinikanth's much-awaited 'Kaala' was released on digital platforms on Wednesday ahead of its formal launch in the evening.
The album with eight upbeat and melody songs went viral across all digital platforms within minutes of its release by producer and Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush.
For the first time in many years, the audio launch of a Rajinikanth film will be held in Chennai at the sprawling YMCA grounds at 6 pm. Such events of his previous films were held either in Malaysia or Singapore.
The film is directed by Pa Ranjit, who made his last hit film 'Kabali' about the problems faced by the Tamil people living in Malaysia. 'Kaala' deals with a don in Mumbai's Tamil area and revolves around Karikalan, the character played by Rajinikanth.
The audio launch is keenly watched in film and political circles since this is the first film of Rajinikanth after he announced his entry into politics.
On Wednesday, when the songs composed by Santhosh Narayanan was released, Rajinikanth fans were not disappointed.
The songs are upbeat and match the aura attached to the actor, who enjoys demi-god status among his fans.
Some of the lyrics that became an instant hit with fans and the general public are 'Oduka Nenacha, Virati Adipom' (We will chase you if you try to sideline us), a politically loaded song.
Rajinikanth's speech at the audio launch is keenly awaited since he is likely to touch on his political journey as well.
The actor, after announcing his intention to fight the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, has spoken about politics only once – after inaugurating the statue of late chief minister M G Ramachandran at a college owned by the latter's protege A C Shanmugam.
