Casting director Mukesh Chhabra said he still plans to direct the debut film of late actor Vinod Khanna's son Sakshi.
Chhabra was all set to launch Sakshi in a film, to be produced by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The project, however, has been on hold for quite some time and the debutante director hopes to revisit it soon.
"I was supposed to make it three years back and then Vinod Khanna sir passed away and Sakshi was in a different state. I believe there is a time for every film. Then I moved on and now I am making 'Kizzy aur Manny'.
"It has been two-three years now and I hope the film will happen with Sakshi but once I go back to the film then we will have to see where we stand right now. But I will make that film for sure," Chhabra told PTI.
Chhabra is currently busy working on his directorial debut "Kizzy aur Manny", a remake of the 2014 Hollywood film "The Fault In Our Stars".
The film features his long-time friend Sushant Singh Rajput and newcomer Sanjana Sanghi.
"I felt like telling this story so I am doing it. Even if it is a remake, you have to think fresh as you to make it Indianised keeping our audience in mind and at the same time maintain the purity of the story. There is a big responsibility," he adds.
Chhabra says so far the shoot is progressing well and the film should hopefully wrap up by December.
A R Rahman is providing the music for the feature and Chhabra feels lucky to have him on board the project.
"I am very happy and lucky that he said yes to me. I just went to him and said this is my first film and this is the story. I told him 'I would like you to do the music'. He heard the story, liked it and said yes. Everyone loves Rahman sir's music and it is a big thing that he doing music for my debut film."
The film will release next year.
