One of the repatriated Pakistanis was arrested on charges of having links with terror activities and had served 11 years in an Uttar Pradesh jail. All of them crossed over to their country after the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi issued emergency travel certificates to them, officials said.

Fifteen, all fishermen, were released from the Jamnagar Jail in Gujarat, three from the Central Jail (Amritsar) and one each from the Tihar prison in the national capital and a jail in UP, they said.

The fishermen were arrested nearly three years ago for entering into the Indian territorial waters illegally. Their boats, which were impounded, were not released. Three Pakistan nationals released from the Central Jail, Amritsar, were arrested for entering India without necessary travel documents including passports and visa.

Assadullah, arrested on charges of having links with terror activities, had served 11 years in a jail in UP. He refused to talk to the Indian media at Attari border.

The released fishermen thanked India for extending all basic amenities during their detention period.
