36 former militants appointed as constables in J&K

The appointment letters were handed over by the Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda at a function here.He said the appointment of the SPOs in the state police was recommended by concerned district police chiefs on basis of their performance during anti-militancy operations.

Khoda said more SPOs would be appointed as constables in a phased manner.
He said the performance of the jawans and officers of the force during the operations is being monitored at highest level and it is after thorough scrutiny that such appointments are made.

Khoda asserted that his force was determined to fight the militancy "in more professional manner" in Jammu and Kashmir.He asked jawans and officers working in the field to strengthen police-public relationship and maintain close vigil on the activities of "anti national" elements.
