The decision follows day-long confabulations between the Telangana Employees JAC and the cabinet sub-committee of the state government under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha.

The employees’ association leaders, who first thrashed out the details of the agreement at the Secretariat, met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his camp office late in the night, and agreed to return to work on Tuesday. The government has accepted nine demands put forth by the TEJAC in principle, which include considering 42 days of absence as special leave, disbursement of salary of 42 days as advance, a committee to review implementation of 610 GO (regional recruitment), withdrawal of ESMA and reinstating of all the outsourced employees.

The employees’ leaders signed on the dotted line after consulting the TJAC steering committee. The employees are also demanding an audience with Congress in-charge of the State Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The government, which was adamant on the issue of withdrawal of cases against its employees who participated in the strike, consulted the Advocate General and finally agreed to refer to the issue of 177 GO, that imposes no-work-no-pay rule. The strike, which began on September 13 demanding a separate Telangana state created a record, even though teaching staff, colliery workers and APSRTC employees withdrew from the strike one after another following repeated requests from the government and concerned citizens.

Addressing the press after the deal with the TEJAC, Minister for health D Nagender said the issue of carving a separate state, lies in the hands of the union government and the state government is happy that the employees recognised the fact and withdrew the strike.

TJAC convener Swamy Goud told the media that the employees will formally make an announcement of withdrawing the strike soon  as they believe that the state government has understood the aspirations of people from Telangana.
