Ajith Paul Antony, younger son of Defence Minister A K Antony, is all set to enter the club of children of politicians who see a career in films like Riteish Deshmukh and Chirag Paswan.

The 21-year-old son of Antony will be making his debut as the hero of a multilingual movie titled Oberoi whose story he developed himself and has scripted, too. “It’s a suspense thriller and will be made in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The film is in the pre-production stage and we will be announcing the producer this week itself,” Ajith told Deccan Herald from Delhi.

The film will be directed by Aji John, a relative newcomer whose first film in Malayalam “Nallavan” incidentally did not create much of an impact.  According to Aji John, Oberoi tells the story of high-flying business tycoons with Ajith playing the son of a rich businessman.

A graduate in History and Political Science from Delhi St Stephen’s College, Ajith Paul did his schooling in Kerala before moving to the national capital when his dad’s sphere of activity also shifted. A self-confessed film buff for long, Ajith says he has been influenced quite a lot by Hollywood and Bollywood action thrillers. He had written stories before and was quite impressed by Aji John’s first film that he thought it fit that a fresher like him should be handling his storyline. The film is planned to be shot in Singapore and other locations.

When asked how his parents viewed his foray into films, he said: “I have their full support. My father said he had no problems if I was confident of what I was doing.”

Antony’s wife Elizabeth is an officer of Canara Bank while elder son Anil Kurien Antony is employed in the United States. Ajith, who was the vice-chairman of St Stephen’s College, is not averse to joining politics though he did not have any such plans at present.
