BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said his party will implement NRC across the country and throw out every infiltrator if the party is voted back to power. Addressing a rally in Raiganj in West Bengal, Shah also said Bengali refugees in West Bengal have nothing to worry.
Later in the day, BJP posted a tweet on its official Twitter handle quoting Shah that apart from Buddhists, Hindus and Sikhs, every infiltrator will be removed from the country.
“We will ensure implementation of NRC in the entire country. We will remove every single infiltrator from the country, except Buddha, Hindus and Sikhs: Shri @AmitShah #NaMoForNewIndia,” tweeted the BJP, quoting Shah.
Addressing a rally, Shah also accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of misleading Bengali refugees regarding the NRC (National Register of Citizens).
“When we say we will bring NRC, Mamata didi starts scaring our Bengali refugees claiming that they will also have to leave the country. Let me assure you that BJP has brought in the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Whether it is from Bangladesh or Pakistan, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jain refugees who have come here, we will not send them back,” said Shah.
He also said “infiltrators are like termites in Bengal” and a “threat to national security”.
“Modi government will not let a single infiltrator stay in Bengal,” said Shah. .
However, Mamata said at a party rally in Darjeeling during the day that she will never allow NRC in Bengal.
