The engine cover of an Alliance Air flight from Mumbai to Bhuj in Gujarat fell off during the plane’s take-off from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Wednesday.

Alliance Air has confirmed the incident.

The Alliance Air 91 625 Mumbai-Bhuj service was flying with 70 passengers, 4 crew persons and a maintenance engineer.

“During the operation of Alliance Air Mumbai-Bhuj flight, the panel of the engine cowl (cover) was found on the runway post take-off. We are grateful that all passengers and crew onboard the flight safely landed and there was no damage to the aircraft due to this unfortunate incident,” an Alliance Air statement said.

An investigation has been initiated into the incident.

“While we follow laid down policies / procedures as per the regulatory authorities and have strict checks in place – both pre and post flight operations in order to ensure complete safety of our passengers and crew, we regret the unfortunate incident,” the statement said.
