Hyderabad: The TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday has appointed renowned spiritual guru Chaganti Koteswara Rao as an advisor to the government, with cabinet rank.
He has been appointed as advisor- students, ethics, and values. Koteswara Rao is well-known for his speeches on Hindu Sanatana Dharma.
Due to his Telugu discourses on Hindu scriptures such as the Ramayana, Bhagavatam, Mahabharatha, and Bhagavadgita, Koteswara Rao has gained immense popularity among Telugu people worldwide. He commands a huge following among Telugu Hindus.
Interestingly, irrespective of which party is in the government, Koteswara Rao has been the advisor. In 2016, during N Chandrababu Naidu's first term as chief minister, the government first appointed him as a cultural advisor.
Later, the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government too appointed him as TTD dharmic adviser in 2023. Once again, the Naidu government appointed him as an advisor, granting him cabinet rank on Saturday.
His appointment coincided with the nominations for several other positions within the government. Leaders of three parties in the coalition have been waiting for Naidu to fill these nominated positions.
Naidu's office released a list of 59 names on Saturday, appointing them to several corporations and missions, which are nominated positions. As per the parties ratio in the coalition, in the list Jana Sena leaders received nine posts, while the BJP received one.
