"We have lodged a strong protest with our Pakistani counterparts and asked them to refrain from such acts in future," a senior Army Officer of 16 Corps told PTI. He said a hotline contact was made with the Pakistani authorities by the Army in Poonch and the protest was lodged.
Army jawan Moray Sehdev was killed yesterday when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and indiscriminately fired on Indian posts amid rocket attacks along the LoC in Krishnagati sub-sector of Poonch district.
"Dozens of rockets were fired, which exploded away from the posts. This was clearly an unprovoked act and ceasefire violation," Brigadier General Staff (BGS), 16 corps, Brig S Dua told PTI.
Yesterday's firing was the third ceasefire violation this month. On October 1 and 2 there were ceasefire violations by Pakistan in the same sector when they opened fire on Indian posts amid rockets and mortar bomb attacks.
