The ruling BJP is going ahead with alliance with two regional players, Asom Gana Parishad and United People's Party Liberal. Congress, on the other hand, has stitched a "grand alliance" with six other parties including Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front and Bodoland People's Front, BJP's ally in 2016 elections. Two other regional parties, Assam Jatiya Parishad and Raijor Dal, which were born out of the anti-CAA agitation, are also contesting the elections jointly.
