Have a voter ID card? Check.
But is your name present on the electoral roll?
You need to check that also. The electoral roll or the voter list is a document that has a list of names of registered voters in a particular constituency. Since you cannot vote if your name is not included in the voter list, it is advisable to confirm if your name is on it.
The Election Commission of India has released the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections. Over 18.68 crore people will cast votes between March 27 and April 29 to elect 824 members of the legislative assemblies in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry.
The votes will be counted in all the four states as well as the Union Territory of Puducherry on May 2.
