"In the last few days, an attempt was made by the Congress and the JD(S) to destabilise the democratically- elected government by using money and power. Many MLAs were bought and pressurised. An attempt was also made to misuse democratic institutions," Gadkari told reporters.
He said despite all these attempts, the BJP won the trust vote and termed it as a tribute to Jai Prakash Narayan whose birth anniversary falls today.
"Democracy has won," he said, greeting the BJP leaders in Karnataka and Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
He hoped that the Centre would not misuse the Constitution and take steps against the state government.
Expressing confidence about 100 per cent stability of the government, Gadkari said those who had taken money and had back-stabbed the party have been disqualified.
