Forecast of more rain worries flood-hit Bengalurians as they try to return to normal life

Cloudy conditions in Mumbai, IMD predicts light to moderate thundershowers

Mumbai witnessed rains along with thunder and lightning in the last 24 hours, bringing some respite from the sultry weather, and the weather department has forecast light to moderate thundershowers in the next one day. Mumbaikars woke up to overcast conditions on Thursday morning. Heavy rain was not reported anywhere in the city in the morning. The local trains, Metro services and buses of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) were running normally, a civic official said. Bengaluru: BBWSSB restores flooded TK Halli pumping station in 36 hours

The BWSSB has won appreciation from residents and the government for restoring the Tore Kadanahalli (TK Halli) pumping station in just 36 hours.

“This is the first time a pumping station was totally flooded. All the pumps were submerged in 40 feet of water. Given the magnitude of the situation, the repair works would have gone on for seven days if not for our officials’ proactive work,” Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chairperson Jayaram N said.

Govt holds meeting with IT companies, promises permanent solution to woes

The Karnataka government on Wednesday assured IT companies that a permanent solution to the inconveniences occurring in the Mahadevpura zone, which houses major tech companies inBengaluru, will be found by next year's rainy season.

IT and BT Minister, Dr C.N. Ashwath Narayan made the assurance at a meeting with the heads of the IT companies located in the Mahadevapura zone at Vidhan Soudha here.

After giving a patient hearing to the grievances of the IT companies, he sought their cooperation to retain the status of 'Bangalore Brand'. He added that virtual meetings will be conducted every month from now on to resolve their grievances.
