Fifty school children at a primary school in Dumra Block of Sitamarhi district, in Bihar, have complained of stomach ache and vomiting allegedly after consuming mid-day meal on Tuesday, ANI reported.
The children were referred to Sadar Hospital.
The doctor however confirmed that all was well the students.
"They have complained that a chameleon was found in the mid-day meal. They had consumed the same food. All the children here are stable and symptom-free. We have kept them under observation. Everything is normal now. Their parents are with them. There is nothing to worry about", Dr Sudha Jha of the hospital said.
The students claimed to have found a dead lizard in the meal.
One of the students' parents said "As per school guidelines, the administration prepared the mid-day meal for the primary students first. After consuming the food, they started complaining of stomach ache and vomiting. The news of the incident soon spread in the village and we took the students to the Sadar hospital for treatment. The students, after finding the dead lizard in the food, had kept it aside", as per IANS.
