New Delhi: Janata Dal (United) blamed the Congress for Nitish Kumar's sudden shift to the NDA as it accused a ‘caucus’ within the grand old party of hatching a conspiracy to capture the leadership of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc.
JD(U) spokesperson and political advisor to the party chief, Nitish Kumar K C Tyagi said the name of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was proposed as I.N.D.I.A. bloc chairperson as part of the conspiracy.
"We have regret as well as relief that our leader, who brought together the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, has walked out of it," Tyagi told reporters.
Other party leaders, however, pulled no punches in hitting out at the Congress for the rupture in the Opposition bloc. JD(U) spokesperson Rajib Ranjan compared Congress with Bhasmasur, the mythological demon whose mere touch destroys everything.
Nitish Kumar took oath as the Bihar CM for the record ninth time after dumping his alliance partner RJD.
