In a bid to test the organisational capabilities of turncoats and check factional feuds within the party, the BJP leadership has decided that most of the turncoats would be fielded from "tough" constituencies, where the saffron party does not have a strong organisation.
BJP sources said that it has also been decided that not all of the turncoat MLAs would be given tickets for the Bengal Assembly elections.
“The BJP leadership is of the opinion that these leaders from other parties should prove their mass base and organisational capabilities. They should prove that their induction into the party has strengthened it and weakened the TMC,” said a senior state BJP leader.

As for the seats where the party has significant organisational strength and vote base, the BJP insiders said that leaders who were in the BJP for a long time would be given priority in terms of candidature.
“The party leadership is apprehensive that if the turncoats are fielded in easy constituencies it may result into severe discontent among the old guard of the party and may also lead to sabotage,” the state BJP leader said.
BJP sources revealed that the party has marked about 85 Assembly constituencies as easy seats, most of which are in North Bengal.
Another TMC defector joins BJP
Meanwhile, the trend of defection from the TMC to the BJP in West Bengal continued as yet another TMC MLA joined the saffron party on Tuesday.
TMC MLA from Pandabeswar constituency in West Bardhaman district Jitendra Tiwari joined the BJP at Baidyabati in Hooghly district in presence of state president Dilip Ghosh and several other senior leaders.
